SWB Transition News 05/01/2011
Dear Friends, SWB's Board of Directors has some great news to share with our community about our ongoing organizational transformation, which we’ve been working on since our Strategic Planning Retreat in 2009. As of April 1st, 2011, Executive Director, Chris Kang will step out of the role he has played since 2003 and support the Board of Directors with a focus on fund development, organizational design and governance modeling. Chris will also focus his time on SWB supported projects, Hygienna and Within Every Woman. Chris will be serving his time as a volunteer and will be up for Board nomination at SWB’s next AGM (Annual General Meeting). Managing Director, Julian Caspari, has been appointed Interim Executive Director from April 1st - June 30th, 2011. Julian will focus his attention on supporting the emerging leadership at SWB, while strengthening organizational foundations. Recently welcomed into the DiverseCity Fellowship Program, Julian will continue to explore critical linkages between private, public and non-profit sectors in an effort to further build value within our learning network. By July 1, 2011, SWB will be hiring an Executive Director, Operations, and Julian will be transitioning to the Board of Directors to continue stewarding this work from a governance perspective. In order to bring renewed vision to SWB’s platform work, Kim Crosby, has been hired by SWB’s Board of Directors Hiring Committee as the Executive Director, Platform. Kim will fill this role at least until the end of 2011. We are thrilled to have Kim join the team in this official leadership position as she has demonstrated an invaluable skill set and ability to connect, coordinate and mobilize all of SWB’s stakeholders. In their Director roles, Julian and Kim will form the Executive Committee, which will work closely with the Board of Directors to continue shaping the organization’s future direction. In addition to Kim’s leadership of SWB’s Platform, Kate Fraser (Director, My Story) and Joanna Duarte (Coordinator, Ignite the Americas), will provide hands-on support for the 25 groups who are hosted on the SWB platform. Furthermore, a stronger partnership with the Grassroots Youth Collaborative brings a wealth of programming expertise and support onto our platform. Jaime Hackett will continue in her role as Administrative Coordinator, bringing stability to the organization’s day-to-day operations in partnership with Heather Campbell, who will now serve as SWB’s Financial Controller. Lastly, in support of this transition, Shannon Lawrence (former intern with SWB) will work closely with Chris to develop key grants over the next 3 months. The Board would like to thank Chris for his tremendous commitment to SWB. We look forward to building with him in this new capacity so that we can continue to transform lives through holistic education. Please feel free to contact us if you have any questions about these organizational developments. We would be happy to provide you with more information upon request. All the best, SWB Board of Directors info@swb.ca CommentsLeave a Reply |
