SWB Job Posting: Outreach and Support Coordinator
Date: May 15, 2012 – August 15, 2012 (3 months Probationary Period. Option to Extend to 1 year)
Reports to: SWB Director
Fulltime Consultant fee: $12/hour, expected to work 28 hours/week.

The Outreach and Support Coordinator will be highly independent and have a strong ability to develop relationships with community partners. The primary focus of this position is to work hand in hand with Tides Canada, SWB funding partners and community groups to establish the most appropriate ‘space’ or home for a number of unincorporated youth-led organizations. This individual must be able to troubleshoot, problem solve, manage tasks and implement a coordinated workflow.

1) Basic Responsibilities:
- Help inform intermediary partner organizations about the gaps in service delivery
- Broker support, resources and knowledge to youth-led groups, administrative partners
- Ability to travel within the City to meet with youth-led administrative partners, community organizations and stakeholders
- Ensure that youth-led groups, administrative partners are being treated in an equitable manner
- Collaborate with administrative and platform staff to ensure youth-led administrative partners are receiving coordinated support
- Track and monitor the time spent, challenges, successes and needs identified by youth-led groups
- Support specific grassroots organizations on a case-by-case basis
2) Required Skills:
- Knowledge and experience working with youth-led grassroots groups and organizations
- A familiarity with the work of intermediary organizations and concept of social infrastructure
- A commitment to social justice and respect for self-determination and autonomy
- Comfort and ability to engage youth from diverse backgrounds, and identities
- Ability to work independently but also as a part of a team and with community partners
- College or university degree or equivalent training/work experience
